We can now share with you the winning artists from the 2nd round of our New Talent Call Out. We have added seven new artists, chosen from over 100 applicants. Along with our previous Call Out winners, they’ll be performing in venues across Kingston for our packed November Programme, including the Fighting Cocks, All Saints Church, The Lamb and Kingston’s Workmen’s Club to name a few.
Mungrul is a 19 year old musician and producer from London who combines a styling of blues and jazz tones with steady beats, pulled together by a grungy, soulful voice.
Baby Husband is a dynamic and textured indie rock band based in London. Formed in the spring of 2018, they have a mix of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh members who met at Kingston University. During their first performance together, they won the university’s battle of the bands.
The Motive is an indie rock band. They have been performing together for over two years now, including headline gigs at the 150 capacity Basement Door in Richmond and Ram Jam Records. They have played numerous support slots at renowned local venues such as the Boileroom, the Star in Guildford and 93 Feet East in Brick Lane.
PianWooo is a London-based Korean rapper living in New Malden. His first rap performance was in 2018 at the Kingston Korean Festival. Since then, he has gone on to perform at the Kingston International Youth Arts Festival, Sous le Radar (The Victoria), Taste Neon, Waiting Room, The Piano Work Leicester Square, The Gunners, and as an opening act supporting alternative pop singer NENH.
Miri is a singer-songwriter and campaigner. She creates soulful and gritty songs, with socially conscious lyrics. She has performed at the Southbank Centre, Hospital Club, Greenbelt Festival, Sofar Sounds in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and London and the 100 Club.
Glossii are a young, post-punk band based around South London with a visually unique, underground style. This year you can find them at the 100 Club, as well as taking part in NME’s ‘girls to the front’ series.
Maddie Bowe is a singer/songwriter based in London. Her most recent single ‘With Everything I Have Left’ won the Mayor of London Song Prize 2018 and received its debut radio play this year on BBC Radio York with BBC Introducing North Yorkshire.
